BEST WISHES FROM THE CHAIRPERSON FOR 2017!
2016 has been a great year but 2017 is also starting on a very positive turn for the IAP CoP. With a new website and a new discussion platform, the IAP CoP is providing more accessible ways for IAPs to get in touch with their peers and encourage discussions. I am very pleased to see that it enables a better sharing of knowledge beyond the AMPAP courses.
Last December, six board members were elected to join the IAP CoP board of Directors; I am glad to welcome them to the board and I am looking forward to working with them on new projects and participate in the continuous development of the IAP CoP community. We are hoping that the community of IAPs will continue its positive impact towards better global practices.
Very successful, healthy and happy new year to all of you!
Denise Martinez, IAP
IAP CoP Chair
IAPs ON THE MOVE IN NA – 8 NAMED TO TOP JOBS SINCE 2015
Over the past year, 8 IAPs in North America have been named to the top jobs in our industry, 7 at airports and one at an airline. Upward mobility in this way speaks volumes about the value of the IAP brand and the professional training provided by AMPAP.
The Hall of Fame:
–Ismael (Izzy) Bonilla – named Executive Director, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport
–Wayne Seiloff – new CEO, Capital Region Airport Authority (Lansing, Michigan)
–Jim Gill – now President and CEO, Gerald Ford International Airport (Grand Rapids, Michigan)
–Lance Lyttle – Managing Director, Aviation Division, Port of Seattle
–R.J. Steenstra – President and CEO, Ft. McMurray (Alberta) International Airport
–Michael Rodyniuk – President and CEO, Wasaya Airways (based in Thunder Bay, Ontario)
–Roosevelt Council Jr. – General Manager, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
–Robert Kennedy – Sworn in January 11, 2017 by Mayor Jackson as the City of Cleveland’s Director of Port Control, a position which includes responsibility for running Hopkins International Airport.
AMPAP’s instructors would like to congratulate these IAPs on their new responsibilities. One of the programme’s original goals was to train the next generation of airport leaders. We see the individuals named above as emblematic of the energy, commitment, versatility and high level of professional competency which transforms the AMPAP classroom and on-line courses into a solid foundation for career success.
On behalf of all AMPAP instructors – BRAVO!
Paul Behnke
