IAP CoP Board Engagement Letter
April 23, 2021
A message from Mike Nakornkhet, Chairperson of the IAP CoP Board
Dear IAPs,
I am writing to personally thank you for your continued participation in our community and invite you to share your valuable feedback with us. We have created the following survey to assess improvements to our online forum and iapcop.aero website that are important to you. We invite you to complete this survey by May 7th 2021: IAP CoP Online Presence Survey
Since our formation nearly eight years ago, we have set our sights to be the premier global network where International Airport Professionals (IAPs) contribute to the advancement of airport management as a profession. In essence, we are a community formed by IAPs for the benefit of IAPs. Over the years, your industry colleagues have organized two knowledge sharing labs and continue to interact with one another to share airport and professional information. I myself, have utilized the vast IAP network to see and learn about other airports. My favorite story was while traveling in the South Pacific, I reached out to a fellow IAP who was so kind to give me a tour of his airport, for which I will be forever grateful.
Our industry is going through arguably the most challenging year in its history. We have all been personally and professionally impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic. But with challenges come opportunities, and I am positive that our industry will emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before. Late last year and early this year, a group of IAPs banded together to share information about how their respective airports are handling the pandemic, and shared insights on how airports can emerge from the crisis.
As you are aware, the IAP CoP recently elected new Board members in January of this year. We are a diverse and global group of professionals all driven by the same goal, to re-energize the CoP and deliver initiatives that foster better engagement. With that in mind we are proud to launch an awards program, including the title of IAP of the year – an outstanding accolade. With this new initiative IAPs can be nominated or self-nominate to receive recognition for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to aviation. We are also planning to launch a pilot mentorship program, where IAPs can volunteer to participate as mentors to help guide fellow IAPs through expertise areas or general career development. Stay tuned for more information on our new initiatives.
In your investment in AMPAP, you clearly recognized the value of professional development in maintaining your competitive edge in the marketplace. By being actively engaged in the CoP, you can leverage that initial investment and reap the benefits of the CoP in terms of improvements that drive productivity, innovation and learning. I wish you all the best in your endeavors and thank you for being a leader for our profession.
Sincerely,
Mike Nakornkhet, IAP+
